Anger is a natural human emotion. Anger management doesn’t mean the prevention of anger or knowing how to hold it in. Rather, it is learning how to express or let out your anger appropriately. Here are some basic tips on how to manage your anger:
Do some breathing exercises.
If you feel angry, try some breathing exercises to ease the tension inside your body. Deep breathing is simple, easy to do, and can be done anywhere. First, you have to sit or stand in a relaxed manner. Inhale through your nose in five counts and exhale through your mouth in eight counts. Repeat until you feel calm.
Get some air and space.
Take a break from the argument as it escalates by going out for a walk and taking in some air. You create a space from the situation and have the opportunity to reflect about what happened as well.
If you really have to talk back, try counting to ten before you speak. This will give you the chance to think before saying something you might regret.
